Harden Not Your Hearts
As we continue in the Book of Numbers, I want to finish chapter 17. To show you the severe lack of discernment and accountability shown in the Israelites.
Korah, Dathan, Abiram, and those who followed them were swallowed alive in the earth, immediately condemned to hell, and devoured by fire. I have mentioned before that Hell is in close proximity to the earth. Thinking that it was at the core of the earth. But because the earth is not round I want to make the distinction that he is close, even in the earth.
Please know that Death and Hell are entities within the earthly realm. That neither are stationary or confined to any area except as God commands. “And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth” (Revelation 6: 8, KJV).
He Who Says He Loves God but Hates His Brother is a Liar
I say that to say that when you are not in right standing with God, when you don’t love all others, it puts you at high risk. “We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love our brethren. He that loveth not his brother abides in death. (Listen closely!) Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him” (1 John 3: 14-15, KJV). And again, “A man who wanders from the way of understanding (godly wisdom) will remain in the assembly of the dead” (Proverbs 21: 16, AMP).
Very soon after, the congregation returned back to sinning in the eyes of the LORD. It was not Moses who killed the people. He was led in his prayer by the Holy Spirit. It was God’s judgment prophesied through Moses.
“But on the next day the entire congregation of the Israelites murmured against Moses and Aaron, saying, ‘You have caused the death of the people of the LORD.’ When the congregation was assembled against Moses and Aaron, they turned and looked at the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle), and behold, the cloud of glory and brilliance of the LORD appeared” (Numbers 16: 41-42, AMP).
God is Meticulous in Setting Forth His Commands
They were greatly deceived because they were given several reminders of the punishment for their sins. God put these visible signs in plain sight. So, no man can say that Jesus is unjust and that they had not been warned. Here are just two.
1) “Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: and it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: that ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God” (Numbers 15: 38-40, KJV).
And 2) “And Eleazer the priest took the brasen censers, wherewithal they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for the covering of the altar: to be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses” (Numbers 16: 39-40, KJV).
When The LORD Gets Involved, Repentance is No Longer an Option
I perceive that they had it in their hearts to do evil unto Moses and Aaron. I want you to know that even when left unsaid, when the LORD gets involved, He is well aware of the intents of every man’s heart. He wanted them to know this. That what they planned for His servant had not been hidden from Him.
“Then Moses and Aaron came to the front of the Tent of Meeting (tabernacle), and the LORD spoke to Moses saying, ‘Get away from this congregation, so that I may consume them immediately.’ Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces [in silence before the LORD]. Moses said to Aaron, ‘Take a censer and put fire in it from the altar and lay incense on it; then bring it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them, for wrath has gone forth from the LORD; the plague has begun!’” (Numbers 16: 43-46, AMP).
Intercession Should Never Be Taken Lightly
“And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people. And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed. (Aaron had no idea of who was there in the spirit, death and hell, unseen by him.) Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah. And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed” (Numbers 16: 47-50, KJV).
This is the revelation given to me of the Holy Spirit as I praise my Heavenly Father, my LORD and Saviour. Death literally abides over the earth, over the men, women, and children that walk contrary to God. It is so prevalent that when I walk around the unit of whatever floor I am working on, I sense the spirits of despair, hopelessness, emptiness and more. He is waiting for the LORD’s command. Just as in life and outside of that place.
It is God Who Calls Whom He Chooses
Where there is sin, including disobedience, unholiness, unrighteousness, and every form of evil. No matter where we are, Death is there. And Hell follows collecting those that are not of God. What is most telling, is that it is intentionally aided by the willful negligence and neglect of Satan’s seed.
As I continue to read in this Book, God is putting an end to man’s belief that he should choose his own leaders in the midst of the Israelites. He is establishing the word of Moses by asking each tribe to bring a rod for each fathers’ household. Twelve total. With every man’s name written on each one. And Aaron’s name was written on the rod for the tribe of Levi.
The LORD made it known that whichever rod budded is whom He Himself has chosen for the position. It is a warning for those who would come against Moses and Aaron. God is showing them that the decision is His alone. I want you to pay attention. Again, God leaves a clear sign for them. A visible sign that they do not transgress against His law.
Signs are For the Rebellious and Contentious
“Now on the next day Moses went into the Tent of the Testimony, and the rod of Aaron of the tribe of Levi had sprouted and put out buds and produced blossoms and yielded [ripe] almonds. Moses brought out all the rods from the presence of the LORD to all the Israelites; and they looked, and each man took his rod.
“But the LORD said to Moses, ‘Put Aaron’s rod back before the Testimony [in the ark], to be kept as a [warning] sign for the rebellious and contentious, so that you may put an end to their murmurings [of discontent] against Me, so that they do not die’. And Moses did so, just as the LORD had commanded him, so he did” (Numbers 17: 8-11, AMP).
Chapters 17 and 18 serve as confirmation of the warnings and judgments against Korah, but it also goes in depth and repeats the magnitude of the blessing to be chosen for these positions and that they must be just and upright in all their duties.
Are You Truly Listening?
Before I confirm His words in this book, I want you to pay attention to how the Israelites responded to Moses. Showing how we as people do not take the time to listen to what we are being told if we are not getting what we want. They refused to actively listen. To dissect, discern, arrange and mentally integrate into the mind. To analyze, meditate, study, and comprehend the information being given.
They were unable to see God’s grace and mercy. His wisdom and intellect. Because they could not hear Him. They were selfishly entitled, egocentric and self- absorbed. Their arrogance led to a dangerous state of passive listening. Making them distracted, disengaged, and unfocused in their hearing.
“And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish. Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?” (Numbers 17: 12-13, KJV).
You Will Give an Account for Every Idle Word You Speak
This is why people struggle with the truth that is presented in this Word. As God clarifies Himself, understand that He sets forth a special blessing for servant leaders. But before I get into that (if not in this post, then the next) I want to confirm the judgment for this type of person. And why I recommend Psalm 119, whose main premise is to meditate on His statutes, commandments, and judgments.
These should be especially useful for all those who are in comment sections speaking idle words. And the creators of the videos that provoke them for views and clicks. Empty, void, and useless rhetoric.
1) “Speaking about these things as he does in all his letters. In which there are some things that are difficult to understand, which the untaught and unstable [who have fallen into error] twist and misinterpret, just as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
“Therefore, [let me warn you] beloved, knowing these things beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men [who distort doctrine] and fall from your own steadfastness [of mind, knowledge, truth, and faith], but grow [spiritually mature] in the grace and knowledge of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory (honor, majesty, splendor), both now and to the day of eternity. Amen” (2 Peter 3: 16-18, AMP).
A Double-Minded Man is Unstable in All His Ways
2) “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive”.
Now here is the amplified version. “So that we are no longer children [spiritually immature], tossed back and forth [like ships on a stormy sea] and carried about by every wind of [shifting] doctrine, by the cunning trickery of [unscrupulous] men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything [for personal profit]” (Ephesians 4: 14).
And 3) “For such a person ought not to think or expect that he will receive anything [at all] from the LORD, being a double-minded man, unstable, and restless in all his ways [in everything he thinks, feels, or decides]” (James 1: 7-8, AMP).
