The Commandment for Men to Protect!!!
As I read chapter 30 in the Book of Numbers, the Holy Spirit gave me the premise almost immediately. It is a short chapter but quite clear. Man is commanded to be a covering for the woman. More specifically, his wife and/or daughter. Even the widows and orphans in their communities.
The expectation for a man is higher and he is required to have discernment and godly wisdom. A man’s word shall stand. His actions shall stand. His inaction, passivity, apathy, nonintervention, and disregard shall stand.
“And Moses spake unto the heads of the tribe concerning the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded. If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth” (Numbers 30: 1-2, KJV).
To explain the importance of the words that we speak, I want you to meditate on this story that is placed in the Word of the LORD for a reason. Followed by the importance of honor in a man. Also read chapter 11 in the Book of Judges to get the full background and context. That in all that he was “perceived” to be, he was more honorable than most. Even in his reckless, inept speech. Placed in a sacrificial role of leadership, with no experience or guidance. Who in his heart held the LORD as highly esteemed, respected, and in the highest regard.
A Vow unto the LORD is Sacred
“And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, then it shall be, that whosoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD’s, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.
“So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands. And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.
“And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter. And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back” (Judges 11: 30-35, KJV).
Let Them Have Dominion Over All the Earth
Men were meant to lead and to be under no other authority but God’s. To be the head of the household, having a direct relationship with Yah. Meditate on this before we proceed.
“And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return” (Genesis 3: 17-19, KJV).
Confirming that man is but dirt. Nothing without Him. We would do well to remember this.
Adam brought on the curse, Sin, and Death. Given a commandment by God, he transgressed as the head, in his disobedience because he knew the truth. It was his responsibility to cover Eve. To protect her from the wiles of the devil. Adam was present in that interaction.
Gender Neutrality is a Trick of the Enemy
He knew who Satan was and why he was banished. He stood right there and allowed Satan to speak to her and he said nothing. Think about that as we watch Satan diabolically reverse the roles of men and women, with cowardly, soft men, masculine women, homosexuality and the trans agenda.
Here God was again reiterating the order that He established. And the dangers of a passive man that is indifferent and uninvolved. While showing God’s grace and mercy towards the man who is active in his predetermined role.
“If a woman also vow a vow unto the LORD, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father’s house in her youth; and her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand: and the LORD shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her” (Numbers 30: 3-5, KJV).
The Man is A Woman’s Covering
This is critical for young foolish women lacking discernment. Shallow and superficial. Trifling in speech with frivolity, speaking death unto themselves. Remember, spiritual laws are set in heaven that cannot be disregarded by mere men. No matter how it seems to play out in the worldly realm.
“And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound her soul; and her husband heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that he heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. But if her husband disallowed her on the day he heard it; then he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall forgive her” (Numbers 30: 6-8, KJV).
The woman that is not covered by a man must seek God’s face. It is expected. With continual prayers night and day. Her ignorance will not be tolerated. Nor her rash sins diminished in His eyes. But it is also why God commanded that widows receive help and are cared for. 1 Timothy chapter 5 sets forth the expectations of and for widows, young and old.
God Establishes the Covering for Widows
“But every vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, wherewith they have bound their souls, shall stand against her. And if she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath; and her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the LORD shall forgive her” (Numbers 30: 9-12, KJV).
As we are coming close to the end I want to ask you, what will be your answer when you stand before Jesus after you have corrupted yourselves. Those who do so. Who says that the Master, the Glorious Creator, the Saviour made a mistake when He created you.
What the Spirit has revealed to me should help you understand His grace and mercy as we affirm His Word, law, and commandments in these key points, for which we will be held accountable. And how we must honor one another.
Charity Suffereth Long, and Is Kind
1) Many choose to disregard verse 21. Showing the reciprocity of acquiescing. These will verify that we should honor others.
“Always giving thanks to God the Father for all things, in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ; being subject (or submissive) to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as [a service] to the LORD. For the husband is head of the wife, as Christ is head of the church, Himself being the Saviour of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also wives should be subject to their husbands in everything [respecting both their position as protector and their responsibility to God as head of the house].
Husbands, love your wives [seek the highest good for her and surround her with a caring, unselfish love], just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify the church, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word [of God], so that [in turn] He might present the church to Himself in glorious splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy [set apart for God] and blameless” (Ephesians 5: 20-27, AMP).
2) “Love is to be sincere and active [the real thing—without guile and hypocrisy]. Hate what is evil [detest all ungodliness, do not tolerate wickedness]; hold on tightly to what is good. Be devoted to one another with [authentic] brotherly affection [as members of one family], give preference to one another in honor; never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the LORD” (Romans 12: 9-11, AMP).
Honor is A Moral Virtue from God
And 3) “Marriage is to be held in honor among all [that is, regarded as something of great value], and the marriage bed undefiled [by immorality or by any sexual sin]; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous” (Hebrews 13: 4, AMP).
This is man’s duty, and he must take this responsibility seriously. Because in the end, he will be accountable for his decisions, in their gravity, as the head. Just as he is also to be submitted to Christ. This is why we should never be unequally yoked or callous in the entering in of relationships.
“Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void. But if her husband shall altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which are upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day he heard them. But if he shall any ways make them void after that he hath heard them; he shall bear her iniquity. (Do you understand?) These are the statutes, which the LORD commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her father’s house” (Numbers 30: 13-16, KJV).
Build Your House on The Rock
Women, meditate on this when you curse your husbands and sons. Men meditate on this when you dishonor your wives, mothers, and daughters.
“The wise woman builds her house [on a foundation of godly precepts, and her household thrives], but the foolish one [who lacks spiritual insight] tears it down with her own hands [by ignoring godly principles]. He who walks in uprightness [reverently] fears the LORD [and obeys and worships Him with profound respect], but he who is devious (or perverse) in his ways despises Him” (Proverbs 14: 1-2, AMP).
Do you ever wonder why God is so redundant in matters? Speaking on the same things over and over again throughout His Word? He is establishing His firm foundation and stripping man of the lies that he did not understand what is required of him.
