The Depth of the Blessing!!!
As I am reading from the book of Matthew, I am realizing how elaborate and sophisticated the “blessing” really is.
Many, including myself, will say that we are blessed and highly favored. But we haven’t begun to understand its complexity. Just as our Creator is omniscient and omnipresent. So is His favor.
As I read what has been termed “the beatitudes”, the Holy Spirit is revealing how the true blessing evolves. To fit every aspect of your life.
Its intricate power molds itself to all situations and circumstances. The magnitude of its power is more comprehensive than many of us can fathom.
The Power of the Blessing
The blessing is eternal. Established by the LORD. Only portions as small as an atom are truly ever manifested in our earthly existence.
This virtue is protected by the Holy Spirit. God likened this to me to those building the Tower of Babel. Because as men we are rebellious and untrustworthy.
“Now the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the LORD said, “Behold, they are one [unified] people, and they all have the same language. This is only the beginning of what they will do [in rebellion against Me], and now no evil thing they imagine they can do will be impossible for them” (Genesis 11: 5-6, AMP).
Likened also to when Adam and Eve were banished from the garden of Eden. “And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
“Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life” (Genesis 3: 22-24, KJV).
Why Blessings Are Protected
As men, it is natural for us to pervert this power in arrogance. In our desire to want to be worshipped and exalted in the place of God.
When we became knowledgeable of good and evil, as mere men. We took on the characteristics of sin. Adam and Eve allowed Satan to enter them. He muddied their spirits.
Many don’t recognize the magnitude of the phrase, “Unlock the blessing”. Watch as this unfolds. Compare the KJV to the amplified version to understand that “the blessing” is manifested by and through God. It evolves and conforms!!!
To Be Spiritually Prosperous, Forgiven, and Secure
“Blessed [spiritually prosperous, happy, to be admired] are the poor in spirit [those devoid of spiritual arrogance, those who regard themselves as insignificant], for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever].
“Blessed [forgiven, refreshed by God’s grace] are those who mourn [over their sins and repent], for they will be comforted [when the burden of sin is lifted].
“Blessed [inwardly peaceful, spiritually secure, worthy of respect] are the gentle, the kind-hearted, the sweet-spirited, the self-controlled], for they will inherit the earth.
To Be Nourished, Content, And Spiritually Mature
“Blessed [joyful, nourished by God’s goodness] are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness [those who actively seek right standing with God], for they will be completely satisfied.
“Blessed [content, sheltered by God’s promises] are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
“Blessed [anticipating God’s presence, spiritually mature] are the pure in heart [those with integrity, moral courage, and godly character], for they will see God.
To Have God’s Favor, Inner Peace, And Moral Courage
“Blessed [spiritually calm with life-joy in God’s favor] are the makers and maintainers of peace, for they will [express His character and] be called the sons of God.
“Blessed [comforted by inner peace and God’s love] are those who are persecuted for doing that which is morally right, for theirs is of the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever].
“Blessed [morally courageous and spiritually alive with life-joy in God’s goodness] are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil thing’s against you because of [your association with] Me” (Matthew 5: 3-11, AMP).
Do you notice that each blessing requires something of you? That it sets you apart? That you will be and feel alone, and inconvenienced?
Unlocking “the blessing” starts with truth and self-accountability. If you continue to read the remaining verses in this chapter, God clearly shows the need for forgiving others, self-examination, and true repentance.
That we must truly humble ourselves. Becoming selfless. Having self-discipline. With love and mercy for others. Even our enemies. Especially our enemies!
One of the most critical aspects that Jesus points out in several scriptures is how our thoughts, if not corrected, lead to sin. And sin will ultimately lead to death.
You cannot “unlock the blessing” with a dark heart. Let me confirm this.
“What leads to [the unending] quarrels and conflicts among you? Do they not come from your [hedonistic] desires that wage war in your [bodily] members [fighting for control over you]?
“You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your lusts goes unfulfilled; so you murder. You are envious and cannot obtain [the object of your envy]; so you fight and battle. You do not have because you do not ask [it of God].
“You ask [God for something] and do not receive it, because you ask with wrong motives [out of selfishness or with an unrighteous agenda], so that [when you get what you want] you may spend it on your [hedonistic] desires” (James 4: 1-3, AMP).
What Am I Missing?
This is why we miss this. It is so much easier for us to blame others. Holding on to jealousy and envy.
We are bound. Held in mental, psychological, and spiritual imprisonment. So stagnating, that it physically destroys us with sickness and disease.
Remember this. “Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?”. Now compare it to the amplified version.
“Wrath is cruel and anger is an overwhelming flood, but who is able to endure and stand before [the sin of] jealousy?” (Proverbs 27: 4).
Jesus gives us the keys and the warning. When he warned Joshua to be strong and with emphasis on being “very courageous”.
To observe and do all according to God’s law. While meditating on His word day and night. Without turning from God. Rejecting Him.
The reward. “There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee” (Joshua 1: 8, KJV).
Jesus confirms this by establishing us as the lights of the world. Intended to combat darkness. As we honor the LORD. Warned not to dim our light. Casting off our supernatural power.
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil” (Matthew 5: 18, KJV). “For I say to you that unless your righteousness (uprightness, moral essence) is more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5: 20, AMP).
Always coming from a place of love and truth!!!
