The Divinity of The Prophetic Calling!!!
As we enter the thirteenth chapter of the Book of Deuteronomy, I know how important this subject is to the LORD. I have read this chapter a few times and could not move to teach on this without a revelation from the Holy Spirit.
I needed to be aligned with the Spirit because people have a low regard for the magnitude of this calling. And others ignorantly accept and appoint these false teachers, even themselves. Having no clue as to the depth and true suffering that it entails. The strenuous discipline that goes into preparing for this.
So I will start with the Nazarite vow. “Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Say to the sons of Israel, When a man or woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazarite, that is, one separated and dedicated to the LORD, he shall abstain from wine and strong drink; he shall drink no vinegar, whether made from wine or strong drink, nor shall he drink any grape juice nor eat fresh or dried grapes.
“All the time of his separation he shall not eat anything produced from the grapevine, from the seeds even to the skins. All the time of the vow of his separation no razor shall be used on his head. Until the time of his separation to the LORD is completed, he shall be holy, and shall let his hair grow long.
“All the time that he separates himself to the LORD he shall not go near a dead body. He shall not make himself [ceremonially] unclean for his father, mother, brother, or sister, when they die, because [the responsibility for] his separation to God is on his head. All the time of his separation he is holy to the LORD’” (Numbers 6: 1-8, AMP).
It is God Who Ordains and Sanctifies His Prophets
God takes this very seriously. Letting us know that our blood will be on our own heads if we disavow. However, what most men and women don’t realize or feign ignorance of is that God Himself personally chooses His prophets. It is the highest calling of the five-fold ministry. And many of them that were chosen, due to the gravity of the calling, attempted to run from the responsibility. With only a few saying, “Here I am. Send me”.
There is no glitz or glamour. People were rarely told what they wanted to hear. At times, the prophets were in fear for their lives, and many feared them. Some became martyrs. But it is God who calls and prepares the prophets. So let me give you three powerful examples of this calling. Although there are many more, even from before Moses, Jonah, and John the Baptist. God even sending His own begotten Son. And those even now, who preach the true gospel. A very small remnant, holy, called, and precious unto God.
“Now the boy Samuel was attending to the service of the LORD under the supervision of Eli. The word of the LORD was rare and precious in those days; visions [that is, new revelations of divine truth] were not widespread. Yet it happened at that time, as Eli was lying down in his own place (now his eyesight had begun to grow dim and he could not see well) and the [oil] lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, that the LORD called Samuel, and he answered, ‘Here I am.’
“He ran to Eli and said, ‘Here I am, for you called me.’ But Eli said, ‘I did not call you; lie down again.’ So he want and lay down. Then the LORD called yet again, ‘Samuel!’ So Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, ‘Here I am, for you called me.’ But Eli answered again, ‘I did not call, my son; lie down again.’ Now Samuel did not yet know [or personally experience] the LORD, and the word of the LORD was not yet revealed [directly] to him.
Here I Am, for You Did Call Me
“So the LORD called Samuel a third time. And he stood and went to Eli and said, ‘Here I am, for you did call me.’ Then Eli understood that it was the LORD [who was] calling the boy. So Eli said to Samuel, ‘Go lie down, and it shall be that if He calls you, you shall say, Speak, LORD, for Your servant is listening.’ So Samuel went and lay down in his place” (1 Samuel 3: 1-9, AMP).
Secondly, this will confirm that when the prophet is sent among the people, the window for repentance is narrower and closing. Please read the sixth chapter of the Book of Isaiah for clarity. Isaiah was called in a vision as he beheld the glory of the Most High and the seraphims that minister unto Him.
“Then I said, ‘Woe is me! For I am ruined, because I am a man of [ceremonially] unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.’ Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said, ‘Listen carefully, this has touched your lips; your wickedness [your sin, your injustice, your wrongdoing] is taken away and your sin atoned for and forgiven.’
“Then I heard the voice of the LORD, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’ And He said, ‘Go and tell this people: Keep on listening, but do not understand; Keep on looking, but do not comprehend. Make the heart of this people insensitive, their ears dull, and their eyes dim, otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and return and be healed.’
“Then I said, ‘LORD, how long?’ And He answered, ‘Until cities are devastated and without inhabitant, and houses are without people and the land is utterly desolate, the LORD has removed [His] people far away, and there are many deserted places in the midst of the land. And though a tenth [of the people] remain in the land, it will again be subject to destruction [consumed and burned], like a massive terebrinth tree or like an oak whose stump remains when it is chopped down. (Except here, nothing will remain.) The holy seed [the elect remnant] is its stump [the substance of Israel]’” (Isaiah 6: 5-13, AMP).
Before I Formed You in The Womb I Knew You
And thirdly, “Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I consecrated (sanctified) you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations. Then I said, ‘Ah, LORD God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am [only] a young man.’ But the LORD said to me, ‘Do not say, ‘I am [only] a young man,’ because everywhere I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.’
“‘Do not be afraid of them [or their hostile faces], for I am with you [always] to protect you and deliver you,’ says the LORD. Then the LORD stretched out His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me, ‘Behold (hear Me), I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms, to uproot and break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant’” (Jeremiah 1: 4-10, AMP).
Going back to Deuteronomy, chapter 13, I want you to understand that false prophets and dreamers of dreams were to be put to death. “If a prophet arises among you, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder which he spoke (foretold) to you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us follow after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve and worship them,’ (because this is the goal, the enemy’s plan, whether it be they themselves that you worship or other idols and false gods) you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer of dreams; for the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and mind and all your soul [your entire being]”.
Again, let me digress. The LORD is revealing the motives of the false prophet. To be seen as a god. To divert you from the true living God.
The Mouthpiece, Messengers, and Watchmen of The LORD
“You shall walk after the LORD your God and you shall fear [and worship] Him [with awe-filled reverence and profound respect], and you shall keep His commandments and you shall listen to His voice, and you shall serve Him, and cling (cleave) to Him” (Deuteronomy 13: 1-4, AMP).
A prophet is a holy calling. They are the “mouthpieces”, messengers, and watchmen, guiding and warning the people. Endued with authority to speak on the behalf of God. Calling people to repentance while warning of impending judgment.
I want you to pay attention to what was written by this prophet. “Does a bird fall into a trap on the ground when there is no bait in it? Does a trap spring up from the ground when it has caught nothing at all? [Of course not! So it is that Israel has earned her impending judgment.] If a trumpet is blown in a city [warning of danger] will not the people tremble? If a disaster or misfortune occurs in a city has not the LORD caused it? Surely the LORD God does nothing without revealing His secret plan [of the judgment to come] to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3: 5-7, AMP).
God is saying that if He does not reveal these things to the prophets we would still utterly perish in our sin, even in ignorance. In His mercy, when the calls to repentance are ignored and He in His righteousness begins to judge us, know that this is the final lifeline that is given. This is why He is deliberate in His commandment for us to destroy the “evil” from among ourselves. That surrounds us. No matter the person or source. Even powerful ancient entities were never completely destroyed; they were merely held in abeyance.
There is Judgment for Complacency and Complicity
“But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has counseled rebellion against the LORD your God who brought you from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to draw you away from the way in which the LORD your God has commanded you to walk. So you shall remove the evil from among you. If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is as [precious to you as] your own life (soul), entices you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods’ (gods whom neither you nor your fathers have known, of the gods of the peoples who are around you, from one end of the earth to the other), you shall not consent to him or listen to him; and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him” (Deuteronomy 13: 5-8, AMP).
This is where our discernment is tested. It is allowed by God. He will sit silently and allow you to make your own decisions and choices. There is judgment for complacency and complicity. And He has made it clear that we are to take the responsibility to rid ourselves of this wrongdoing. He did not say that he should do this, but that we, in zealousness, must do this.
Let me put this here. There was an incident that happened at work and as soon as I was caught in it, the LORD brought a past warning to my remembrance. He Himself, in His mercy, reminded me that this is a job. And even though I am ordained of Him to do it, that I need to remember that when I have completed my work I need to leave. In other words, my work is complete when my shift is finished. The Spirit literally spoke to me and said to “leave the dead to care for the dead!”.
Before anyone attempts to judge me or say, “Why would a merciful God say that?”, you need to know that He sees and hears what we don’t. The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. This speaks volumes so let me make it clear. “The heart is deceitful above all things and it is extremely sick; who can understand it fully and know its secret motives? I, the LORD, search and examine the mind, I test the heart, to give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds” (Jeremiah 17: 9-10, AMP).
Don’t Be That Dog. Don’t Be That Pig.
What you should be asking is what is being done in the dark, that would make even a merciful LORD and Savior direct me in this way. I myself, will not question it. I fully intend to walk in obedience.
“But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this among you” (Deuteronomy 13: 9-11, KJV). This alone confirms why national repentance is so important. Self-satisfaction, self-approval, collusion and conspiracy permeates the foundation of this country.
Hearts are hardened. Conspiring against the Almighty. “He that planted the ear, shall He not hear? He that formed the eye, shall He not see?” Read Psalm 94 in its entirety for clarity.
We are required to do due diligence in zealousness. We are to stamp out sin, making it a ruin and a desolation, completely, never to return to these things again. Those who do not do these commands are likened to a dog and a pig.
“For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them then the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire” (2 Peter 2: 20-22, KJV).
And again, “When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation” (Matthew 12: 43-45, KJV). This is amping up around us in real time.
Touch Not the Unclean Things
Let me reiterate that we are to diligently seek to stamp out the detestable abhorrence, by the Spirit of truth. And what can be more cursed of God than a despicable person who would feign themselves as a prophet. But just as it was with Balaam, false prophets serve false gods. And in the end, we will be accountable for allowing treacherous doctrine and fallacious prognosticators to walk among us.
“If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying, Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known; then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold (take a moment, think about it), if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you; thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
“And you shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shall burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be an heap for ever, it shall not be built again. And thereof shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of His anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as He hath sworn unto thy fathers; when thou shalt harken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all His commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God” (Deuteronomy 13: 12-18, KJV).
As I close, I want to confirm that being a prophet of the LORD is not for the weak. It is not as portrayed by impostors. Or else they would not have to be warned of the fortitude, tenacity, resilience, and even stamina that is needed, to walk in this calling. “For the LORD GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed” (Isaiah 50: 7, KJV).
