Who Deserves More Mercy?

As I continue reading in the book of Matthew I want to address something that I see often. And how it is used to perpetuate cruelty to others.

I have seen videos of people and read the comments of those who praise those merciful to pets and animals in danger. There are whole organizations to protect wildlife. There is nothing wrong with this.

But on the flip side, I have seen and heard people dehumanizing men. Preferring to save a beast over a man. Saying things like, “I would save a dog before I would save one of them”.

There are some major issues to consider here. The truth may sting but I have felt like this myself when I was much younger. And as a former pet owner.

The Evil Behind Hate

There is a malevolent spirit behind this when it is used by the merciless. To justify inhumane behavior. Used to psychologically torture and abuse.  To make men, women, and even children feel as if they are nothing. In a demented effort to justify brutality, savagery, and barbarism behaviors.

A narcissistic tendency. For those who need to oppress and subjugate. Because you can have loyalty. But there has to be a balance.

Any person can be a “fair weather” friend. Or a “yes” man. An attribute that is never of God.

Let me confirm this. “A worthless person, a wicked man, is one who walks with a perverse (corrupt, vulgar) mouth.

“Who winks with his eyes [in mockery], who shuffles his feet [to signal], who points with his fingers [to give subversive instruction]; who perversely in his heart plots trouble and evil continually; who spreads discord and strife” (Proverbs 6: 12-14, AMP).

My Name is Legion; For We Are Many

When walking in evil. It is usually at least seven spirits that are being manifested. “These six things the LORD hates; indeed, seven are repulsive (an abomination) to Him:

“A proud look [the attitude that makes one overestimate oneself and discount others], a lying tongue, and hands that are quick to shed blood, a heart that creates wicked plans, feet that run swiftly to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies [even half-truths], and one who spreads discord (rumors) among brothers” (Proverbs 6: 16-19, AMP).

No one wants to understand why people are marrying themselves, animals, sex dolls, and robots. Even opting for “virtual reality”.

It is because people are refusing correction and accountability. A degenerate spirit that is obscene. A man acting out evil, lascivious acts because it is in his heart.

Are You Not Worth More Than a Sparrow

Some will read or listen to this and attempt to excuse their behavior. But Jesus summed it up rather succinctly.

“A man was there whose hand was withered. And they asked Jesus, ‘Is it lawful and permissible to heal on the Sabbath?’ -they asked this so that they might accuse Him and bring charges into court.

“But He said to them, ‘What man is there among you who, if he has only one sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? (Now here it is!) How much more valuable then is a man than a sheep? So it is lawful and permissible to do good on the Sabbath'” (Matthew 12: 10-12, AMP).

Demons Are on Display

These are pitiless, unforgiving men. Whose nature was revealed in the scriptures before this. Who used the law to persecute the godly.

Jesus pointed out how David broke the rules when he entered the house of God to eat the “shewbread”. At that moment as His disciples plucked corn to eat because they were hungry.

God exposed their hypocrisy with the story about the sheep. Reinforcing this Word. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8: 1, KJV). While condemning their savagery and sadism. “But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy (compassion), and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless (innocent)” (Matthew 12: 7, KJV).

Because these spirits are demonic, let’s address another root cause for this behavior.

Hurt People Hurt People

People are hurting. Imprisoned in low self-esteem and low self-worth. Who hate themselves because of unresolved issues. Having been abused and mistreated by others.

They are fooled by the devil that if they pretend to think of themselves more highly than others that they can mask the pain that they are feeling. But know this, “For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself” (Galatians 6:3, KJV).

Those who feel the need to be the shiny object in the room. Needing to be validated by men. Who takes pleasure in showing you that they know more than you. Not realizing that everyone has strengths and weaknesses.

You need to understand this. Those who refuse to walk in the Spirit. Refusing to let go of hate and past offenses. “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness (absurdity, stupidity) before God; for it is written [in Scripture], ‘[He is] THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE and CLEVER IN THEIR CRAFTINESS;’ and again, ‘THE LORD KNOWS THE THOUGHTS of the [humanly] wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS'” (1 Corinthians 3: 19-20, AMP).

Love is Not Easily Offended

Because you may never realize that it is not about you. This is why it is written, “The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I have no need of you,’ nor again the head to the feet, ‘I have no need of you.’

“So that there would be no division or discord in the body [that is, lack of adaptation of the parts to each other], but that the parts may have the same concern for one another. (Now pay attention.) ‘And if one member suffers, all the parts share the suffering; if one member is honored, all rejoice with it'” (1 Corinthians 12: 21, 25-26, AMP).

Let Grace and Mercy Abound

Because you don’t believe His word. “I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.

“My frame was not hidden from You, when I was being formed in secret, and intricately and skillfully formed [as if embroidered with many colors] in the depths of the earth.

“Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Your book were all written the days that were appointed for me, when as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape]” (Psalm 139: 14-16, AMP).

The Revelation

I say all that to say that as the Spirit is communing with me. When I start to have my pity party with myself. As I gripe and moan about the foolishness of others and how it affects me. Sometimes saying and acting out of character because I see the wiles of the devil and just don’t want to be bothered with any man. The Spirit is reminding me that it is not about me. Rather, how I can glorify Him. While being a light to others.
