With All Your Knowledge Get Understanding!!!

As I commune with the Holy Spirit He is impressing upon me the importance of understanding. Let me give you the most obvious example ever presented.

When Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, they only knew that they were naked in that moment. It is the tree of wisdom. But what good is it without understanding? Instead, a curse on all men, and Death and Sin were allowed to enter in this earthly realm.

Satan deceived them intentionally. Fully aware that disobedience leads to sin and sin leads to death.

“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Eschew Evil, Run From Sin

“And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. (A clear commandment!)

“And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

“And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise (Are you paying attention?), she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat” (Genesis 3: 1-6, KJV).

 

Pride Comes Before a Fall

So now let me go a little further. Satan was an angel created by God. But he was not content and foolish enough to allow his pride and ego to overtake him.

His main agenda is to get man to make the same mistakes that he did. To destroy mankind. Knowing the fate that awaits him. Even though I call these mistakes, everything the devil does and did is intentional.

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world” (1 John 2: 16, KJV).

You can have worldly knowledge but when you don’t know God, His character, His nature, His will, His truth, then you don’t know Him. And you will ultimately perish. So, before I go further, I want to let you know that the only way you can know Him, even minutely, is through an intimate relationship with Him and His Word.

We will never outwit the devil without not only knowing God’s Word but by walking in obedience to him. Obeisant and subservient to Him.

Disobedience Brings a Curse

Adam and Eve are a primary example of knowing what God told them to do and not to do, while doing the complete opposite. Then when we are judged as sin overtakes us, we have the nerve to say that God is unrighteous. That He is unjust. But it is our selfish and carnal desires that open the portals to evil and madness.

I will give you several biblical truths that will prove without a shadow of a doubt that we are ignorant beings. Knowing nothing without God. The warnings that are given. While providing virtues that will keep us from a spiritual and untimely physical death.

Please know that Wisdom and Righteousness are spirits. Created by the Heavenly Father.

“The LORD created and possessed me at the beginning of His way, before His works of old [were accomplished]. From everlasting I was established and ordained, from the beginning, before the earth existed, [I godly wisdom, existed]” (Proverbs 8: 22-23, AMP).

Godly Wisdom and Worldly Wisdom Are Not the Same

There is a distinction. There is godly wisdom and there is earthly wisdom. The latter is of the devil and his hosts.

“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness (absurdity, stupidity) before God; for it is written [in Scripture], “[He is] THE ONE WHO CATCHES THE WISE and CLEVER IN THEIR CRAFTINESS;” and again, “THE LORD KNOWS THE THOUGHTS of the [humanly] wise, THAT THEY ARE USELESS.” (1 Corinthians 3: 19-20, AMP).

Now I am going to go to the scriptures before that because many are teaching that we have the right to defile ourselves. And that we will not be held accountable.

Particularly in sexual sin and immorality. Including adultery, fornication, homosexuality, and bestiality. People seem to be ignorant and oblivious to one fact: Sin begets more deviant sin.

The Defiler of His Own Temple Will Be Destroyed

“Do you not know and understand that you [the church] are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells [permanently] in you [collectively and individually]? If anyone destroys the temple of God [corrupting it with false doctrine], God will destroy the destroyer; for the temple of God is holy (sacred), and that is what you are.

“Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become foolish [discarding his worldly pretensions and acknowledging his lack of wisdom], so that he may become [truly] wise” (1 Corinthians 3: 16-18, AMP).

I want you to read Psalm 119. It is the longest psalm, besides Psalm 89, and the prevalent theme is the sagacity to pray for a “teachable heart”, understanding, and intimacy. Begging the LORD that they would not fall away and reject Him. To be kept in His statutes and commandments. Obedient to His Word!!!

It is this length for a reason. And though it is not spoken of often, it is one of the most beautifully anointed Psalms. Expressing zealousness for Him, by Him, and through Him.

Remember Your First Love

Here is the warning and the confirmation: “But I have this [charge] against you, that you have left your first love [you have lost the depth of love that you first had for Me].

“So remember the heights from which you have fallen, and repent [change your inner self -your old way of thinking, your sinful behavior -seek God’s will] and do the works you did at first [when you first knew Me]; otherwise, I will visit and remove your lampstand (the church, its impact) from its place -unless you repent” (Revelation 2: 4-5, AMP).

And again, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold (invigorating, refreshing) nor hot (healing, therapeutic); I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm (spiritually useless), and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth [rejecting you with disgust]” (Revelation 3: 15-16, AMP).

Let me leave you with these:

More Precious Than Silver and Gold

1) “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding” (Proverbs 4: 5-7, KJV).

2) “My son, if you will receive my words and treasure my commandments within you, so that your ear is attentive to [skillful and godly] wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding [seeking it conscientiously and striving for it eagerly]; Yes, if you cry out for insight, and lift up your voice for understanding;

“If you seek skillful and godly wisdom as you would silver and search for her as you would hidden treasures; then you will understand the [reverent] fear of the LORD [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] and discover the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives [skillful and godly] wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2: 1-6, AMP).

What Does it Profit to Gain the World?

In the Book of Job, chapter 28, he goes into depth about how men will risk their lives searching for worldly treasures and possessions, in dangerous mines and places uninhabited by men. But reject the value and pricelessness of wisdom.

3) “God understands the way [to wisdom] and He knows its place [for wisdom is with God alone]. For He looks to the ends of earth and sees everything under the heavens.

“When He gave weight and pressure to the wind and allotted the waters by measure, when He made a limit for the rain and a way for the thunderbolt, then He saw wisdom and declared it;

“He established it and searched it out. But to man He said, ‘Behold, the reverential and worshipful fear of the Lord -that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding’” (Job 28: 23-28, AMP). (Did you get that?)

Desire a Teachable Heart

This would not be complete without including a portion from Psalm 119:

4) Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes, and I will [steadfastly] observe it to the end. Give me understanding [a teachable heart and the ability to learn], that I may keep your law; and observe it with all my heart.

Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in it. Incline my heart to Your testimonies and not to dishonest gain and envy. Turn my eyes away from vanity [all those worldly, meaningless things that distract -let Your priorities be mine], (Are you with me?) and restore me [with renewed energy] in Your ways.

Establish Your word and confirm Your promise to Your servant, as that which produces [awe-inspired] reverence for You. Turn away my reproach which I dread, for Your ordinances are good. I long for Your precepts; renew me through Your righteousness” (Psalm 119: 33-40, AMP).

To Reject Knowledge is To Reject God

Here is the final warning for those who choose to reject Him. Simply put:

5) “Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD [that is, obeying Him with reverence and awe-filled respect], they would not accept my counsel, and they spurned my rebuke. Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own [wicked] way and be satiated with [the penalty of] their own devices.

“For the turning away of the naive will kill them, and the careless ease of [self-righteous] fools will destroy them. But whoever listens to me (Wisdom) will live securely and in confident trust and will be at ease, without fear or dread of evil” (Proverbs 1: 29-33, AMP).

6) “And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or consider Him worth knowing [as their Creator], God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do things which are improper and repulsive, until they were filled (permeated, saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice and mean-spiritedness.

The Wages of Sin is Death

“They are gossips [spreading rumors], slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors [of new forms] of evil, disobedient and disrespectful to parents, (Now here it is again!) without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful [without pity].

“Although (Now pay attention!) they know God’s righteous decree and His judgment, that those who do such things deserve death, yet they not only do them, but they even [enthusiastically] approve and tolerate others who practice them” (Romans 1: 28-32, KJV).

 

There is an old saying, “Misery loves company”. But it is Satan who loves company. When he was cast out of heaven, he wasn’t alone, he recruited other angels. They bound themselves to a curse, in sin together. Just as the “Watchers” and other beings did also. And when they were cast down, they spread their sin like a cancerous plague. They chose their fate. As I have said before, free will is given to all. So, there is no excuse.

And so, I end with this:

7) “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6: 23, KJV).
